I get asked every day why I started Restoring Minds Consulting (www.restoringminds.org). The reason is very simple, but it isn’t easy or pretty. I used to be a pastor, doing youth ministry and other pastoral roles for the better part of the last 20 years.
The whole time I was in those roles, I was struggling with an on-and-off battle with pornography addiction. I bought the lie that I was alone in my struggle, and kept it to myself, not realizing that EVERYONE could see that I had a problem (except me). The facade that I had crafted after years in the church world was a total sham. Smoke and mirrors. I had no drive, no power, and I was always the victim in every circumstance.
I stepped out of church work for a couple of years to try to “find myself”, only to find that the struggle remained. After spending some time in the wilderness, I simply accepted that this was my “thorn in the flesh”, and assumed it would be with me forever.
I got another church job, except this time my façade didn’t hold up. I was lovingly confronted, given grace, and an opportunity to heal alongside some proper life coaching and support. My life has been forever changed, and as a result, I have devoted my life to helping others walk the same pathway to freedom that I have walked.
Through my ministry Restoring Minds Consulting we offer a variety of services designed to help individuals struggling with sexual addictions. Our programs are shame-free and you will be treated with respect. It you are interested please visit my website at http://www.restoringminds.org
