Relationships. We long for loving and healthy ones. However, many of us struggle to engage in partnerships that are nurtured and growing. In fact, it’s just the opposite. For a variety of reasons, our relationships die a slow death.

One major reason is unresolved trauma, much of which occurred in our childhood and youth. Not seeing a healthy relationship model, or being given the tools and insights required to cultivate an enriched relationship results in trying to navigate the landmines blindfolded. You are going to get hurt – and in many cases badly.

An excellent sample is a relationship where one partner takes advantage of the other over and over again. Whether it’s due to an individual’s addiction, poor mental health, immaturity, irresponsibility, or under-achievement, the other is required time and time again to clean up the mess. And this usually comes at the expense of their own well-being and self-worth.
